At The Northway Pantry we offer food, household goods and support to help families or individuals in need. This could be anyone who has suddenly found themselves facing food insecurity due to loss of salary, change in benefits, unexpected large bills, illness or family breakdown. Whatever the crisis we will be there for them.

JOINING INSTRUCTIONS

How do I become a pantry member, and what will happen next?
To become a pantry member, either self-referred or to refer someone else on their behalf, please complete our APPLICATION FORM. Once we receive this form, we will contact you in due course to discuss your application. On your first visit to the pantry, you will be asked to complete our membership registration paperwork with us, which will take approximately 15 minutes and we can find out about you and your needs. You will then be able to use the pantry.

To refer yourself or someone else to our services, you can fill out this form.

Please be aware that we operate a waiting list and we do prioritise need therefore you may have to wait for membership. Other services are available whilst you wait such as Tewkesbury Food Bank

How much does it cost to be a member of the pantry?
It will cost you £4 per week and this fee will allow you to pick a total of twelve items from the shop (ten items from the shelf and two items from the chilled area). Fruit and vegetables are items you can take on top of the twelve items in your basket, as we class them as 'free food items'.

Why does the pantry have this food item limit rule?
We must have the twelve item rule in place to allow other members to use the pantry. It is to make sure that it is fair to all members. We limit the items from the chilled area for the same reason. If one member took too much, there may not be enough to go around.

We charge £4 for each shop because it means that we can continue to pay for the food deliveries which we receive at a discounted rate from our suppliers. That is why we can offer a top up food shop for £4 that would normally cost around £25.

When is the pantry open?
The Northway Pantry will be open 1 day a week for shopping. This will be Wednesday each week, 9am to 5pm.

How many times a week can I visit the pantry?
You are allowed to visit the shop once per week.

Do I need to bring my own bags?
We encourage everyone to bring their own shopping bags, however we will hold a small supply of donated Bags For Life if you need a bag. To comply with food regulations, frozen food should be appropriately transported (such as in a freezer bag or cooler box), so please make sure to bring something with you.

What other support is there for me in the area?

We understand that people suffering from food insecurity often would appreciate help from other sources as well, relating not only to financial matters but others issues affecting their daily lives. Below are a few of the resources we recommend for people who require further assistance. We can also provide other suggestions for suitable support when we speak to you at the Pantry.
